Toilet Stoppages & Repair
Plugged, slow or overflowing toilets cleared without damaging the bowl, and repaired or replaced when that's the better fix.
What causes it
- Wipes, paper towels and hygiene products
- Too much paper in low-flow toilets
- Objects dropped in, especially toys
- A main line blockage farther down
- Old toilets with partly blocked rim jets or trapways
Signs to watch for
- Water rising high in the bowl after flushing
- Slow, weak flushes
- Gurgling in the tub or sink when the toilet flushes
- Water at the base of the toilet
What you can try first
If the bowl is rising, take the tank lid off and lift the flapper closed or turn off the supply valve behind the toilet. Use a flange plunger with firm strokes. Don't keep flushing a plugged toilet. If other drains gurgle or back up when you flush, it's likely the main line.
How we clear it
We clear the trapway with a closet auger designed not to scratch porcelain. If the stoppage is past the toilet, we clear the branch or main line. If the toilet itself is the problem (cracked, worn out or a poor flusher), we can repair or replace it.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my toilet clogged when nothing unusual went down it?
Partial blockages build over time in the trapway or the line. If other fixtures are slow too, it's likely the main line.
Are flushable wipes safe?
Not really. They don't break down like toilet paper and are a common cause of toilet and main-line stoppages, especially on septic systems.
Can you replace my toilet?
Yes. We repair and replace toilets, including low-flow models.
